The Silk Road Story

Silk Road Music Group was founded by Priyanka Devani, an educator, community musician, and women’s rights activist with a lifelong belief in the transformative power of the arts.

Priyanka’s journey began in 2007 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she worked alongside renowned composer Professor Nigel Osborne MBE, facilitating therapeutic summer camps for children recovering from the trauma of war.
Her path led her to Mumbai, India, where she introduced music education to the Udayachal Schools, before returning to London to lead education transformation programmes within Deloitte’s consulting practice and the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID).

Throughout a career spanning leadership roles in international development at Palladium and Chemonics, Priyanka never lost sight of her passion for the arts as a vehicle for healing and empowerment. In 2024, she brought this passion to life with the creation of Silk Road Music Group which a global movement dedicated to healing, education, and connection through music, storytelling, and creative arts therapy.

Today, alongside her work as Global Programmes Director for Africa, Middle East, and Asia at Think Equal, Priyanka leads Silk Road Music’s growing network of artists, educators, and changemakers.

This is not only a great idea but a necessary one.
We need a festival like this annually as there is
nothing happening where a mix of different musical styles
and local and regional artists can share the stage”
